A Seaside Favorite

Plimoth Grist Mill, Plymouth MA

Plymouth has become our favorite place to visit and enjoy a meal. There’s so much to see and do and EAT. Honestly, in my younger days, visiting Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower felt drab and boring. So much has changed. Now, a walk on Water Street (the waterfront), Court & Main Streets fills me with happiness. I feel like I’m on a carefree, seaside vacation and realize I’m among people that actually are!

Drive slow along these charming historical streets and you’ll see old and new restaurants and shops lined snug and seamlessly together. It’s vibrant and bustling with visitors from near and far. There’s a simple beauty that has sustained here in the quaint Puritan simplicity of the architecture. Although the legacy of The Mayflower II and the Puritans who landed here may be a bit fraught with religious zealotry and hypocrisy, the Pilgrim mystique is alive and well. You may find yourself pulled in to take a closer look at the majestic full scale ship reproduction and imagine what it must have been like to embark on such an arduous journey.

A Vegan’s Delight

Vitamin Sea Brewing is located across from the waterfront and has spacious casual indoor and outdoor seating. If the weather is good, snag a seat outside. It’s a great spot to people watch and gaze at the boats in the harbor while enjoying a sandwich and an ice cold beverage.

I’ve been wanting to try their Vegan Delight panini ever since seeing a Facebook post in the South Shore Vegans group. It’s made with vegan basil pesto, hummus, roasted tomatoes, avocado, arugula, and grilled artichokes. This sandwich is huge! I split it up so my friends and I could all enjoy it together. It paired very well with a Seas & Desist Strawberry Lemonade hard seltzer on crushed ice and a slice of lemon.

I’ll be back for another dose of Vitamin Sea with my vitamin D! (Shout out to Adam for making a delicious panini)

Be sure to squeeze in an after dinner stroll along the sea wall of Plymouth Harbor or take the winding path following Town Brook through Brewster Gardens up to the Plimoth Grist Mill.

There’s lots more restaurants, museums, concert venues, Nelson Beach, and historical Burial Hill within walking distance to keep you coming back for more!
